Busy Day

Last day in my hometown for awhile...I'm going to miss it.

So my day has consisted of spending as much time as possible with my amazing nephew; he's 2, loves Woody from Toy Story, is exactly like his mother, and screams my name every time he sees me.  The last part really makes me happy since I only get to see him every 3-6 months.  His mom is my best friend, we've known each other since middle school, and I'd be lost without her.  We're pretty much an amazing combo of sarcasm, mischief, and laughter.

I had lunch with the 'rents at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, 2 things that I will miss dearly.  The Mexican in my city just isn't what I grew up on, it's good just not what I fell in love with when I was a kid.  I also just realized I called my 'rents things...just roll with it.  But seriously, they are awesome parents and I think I miss our rando conversations the most.  We talk on the phone all the time, but it's just not the same.

Enjoyed a 3 hour coffee date with my life mentor at a new shop that my friend just opened up.  The atmosphere is incredible, the drinks rock, and the couch we curled up on made 3 hours seem like 30 minutes.  Catching up with her and talking about life face to face over coffee will trump our Skype dates any day.  This could be due to the fact that I'm not a big Skyper...I like to multitask when I'm on the phone and for some reason people don't really like when you are tweezing your eyebrows, cleaning your kitchen, or doing a barrage of otherwise monotonous chores.

Finished the night at dinner with some of my closest friends, again at a Mexican restaurant.  It's interesting how as you get older the subjects you talk about change.  I never thought I would spend an hour talking about my parents' and grandparents' health issues.  When did we get this old?  Yes we, I can't be in this alone...that's just depressing.

And now that I've gone there, I'm going to go curl up in bed with my pup and watch episodes of HIMYM on Netflix.
